Change is a difficult thing. A soul will take a familiar hell over an unfamiliar heaven more often than not, and there was something very unfamiliar about Peppa Willow. Something uniquely frightening.
Perhaps it's the way her sky blue eyes glisten in the sunlight, home to star dust and happiness. Or perhaps the way the wind twirls through her golden, bouncing curls as if blessed to do so.
It could be her smile, the way it fills her entire face without shame, the laughter that flitters like a songbird.
Frank Castle knows he should keep his distance but doing so would be as cruel as keeping a sunflower in the dark.
