She put herself through college and carefully built a career in marketing, fearing chaos and valuing structure in life.
Kage's past is one of abandonment and brutality, growing up in the system before being taken in by Kai's father as a potential enforcer. After Kai's father's death, Kage became fiercely loyal to Kai, viewing him as family. Kage is used to the brutal world they live in but is drawn to the stable life that Angela represents.
Kai, born into a chaotic crime family, lost his father as a teenager, which shattered his worldview. He grew cold and calculated, rising through the ranks by turning the family business into a lean, profitable operation. He never allows himself to feel vulnerable, but his feelings for Mireille challenge this philosophy.
