The hallways of my youth sang to me. The walls danced in memories, the floors hummed in sorrow, and the lights flickered in neglect. I frowned. I hadn't been back since the last day of school, all those years ago.
I could picture all of the seniors bustling loudly, unable to wait to get out. Of course, some would wallow slowly shuffling into the grips of adulthood, taking in the images, knowing it might, no should, be their last time.

That was how it was supposed to be. That was how the world worked. People weren't meant to look back. Weren't meant to stay stationary, trapped by their own desires for youth.
