After getting runner up in the Kalos League, Ash gets betrayed by his so called friends that he spent his entire life  protecting for being a "weakling." Even though they help him back. His mom died protecting him.
So he vowed for revenge and decided that the best revenge is by living the life that they wanted to take away from him.
He was wrong! His mistake led to his death now his brother will have his revenge!
