To the Armed Detective Agency-and to everyone watching from the outside-Dazai Osamu looks like the one in control: reckless, smiling, untouchable, always three steps ahead and never taking anything seriously. Ranpo Edogawa knows better. Across missions, quiet offices, and crowded rooms full of people who pretend not to notice, Ranpo is the constant Dazai orbits-steady, observant, and immovable. He doesn't raise his voice or make grand gestures; he steps closer, calls Dazai out when jokes stop being jokes, and keeps him grounded with a hand at the wrist or waist when the world gets too loud. This story follows their relationship in fragments and moments: successful missions, casual dominance mistaken for indifference, affection hidden in plain sight, and the unspoken rule that Dazai survives because Ranpo is paying attention. As the Agency watches them bicker, lean, and exist a little too comfortably together, Ranpo quietly proves that control doesn't look like force-and love doesn't need permission to be firm.

After fleeing her abusive ex in the middle of the night, Chloe Dawson arrives in a small coastal town with nothing but a duffel bag, a crying six-month-old baby, and the last of her savings. She rents a tiny apartment where the walls are paper-thin. Next door lives Sergeant Mason Kane, disciplined, exhausted, emotionally closed off, and currently on leave between military assignments. After years in the army, silence is the only thing that helps him sleep. Then the baby starts crying every night. At first, Mason is irritated. Chloe is terrified of him. Every knock on the door reminds her of the man she escaped.
