"You always look like you're about to disappear," Devin said, flashing that lazy grin everyone knew him for.

Nyomi arched a brow. "And you always look like you've got something up your sleeve."

"Usually do." His eyes lingered on her. "Not with you, though."

That made her pause.

"Why?" She asked

Devin shrugged, casual as ever, but his voice dipped just a little. "Guess I'm trying to figure you out. I will eventually, I feel it."

She studied him, searching for the joke-didn't find one.

"You don't get tired of chasing the same thing?"

"Not even close." He stepped nearer, hands in his pockets, like he wasn't already all in. "You don't look at me like everyone else does."

Nyomi looked away first. "Maybe I just don't look."

His smile softened. "Yeah," He murmered. "That's the problem..."
