Where we left off

Set in late-1990s Staten Island, the story follows Kimberly Johnson, a woman who returns home after years away, carrying unfinished business and unresolved feelings. What starts as a simple homecoming quickly turns emotional when she unexpectedly reunites with her high-school love, Clifford Vega-the one person she never truly got over.

As they reconnect, old memories resurface: young love, broken dreams, and the choices that pulled them in different directions after graduation. With Staten Island's streets as the backdrop-boom boxes, corner bodegas, ferry rides, and late-night talks-their conversations peel back years of silence. Friends Lisa Romano and Reggie add humor, honesty, and pressure, pushing both Kimberly and Cliff to confront the truth they've been avoiding.

Over the course of the story, Kimberly must decide whether the life she built away from home is worth the emotional distance it created, while Clifford wrestles with staying loyal to the place and people that shaped him. Their reunion becomes less about rekindling a romance and more about understanding who they were, who they became, and whether love can survive time, pride, and missed chances.
