After narrowly surviving an attack by a mysterious creature in his own home, Matt's life changes overnight. Instead of alerting the authorities, his family flees to a hidden city he never knew existed--Evershade, a place shrouded in secrecy and shielded from the outside world. Disoriented and wary, Matt soon realizes their destination may be even more dangerous than the threat they were running from. In Evershade, nothing is as it seems. People vanish without explanation. Hidden passages crisscross beneath the city. Strange symbols whisper of a history long buried. Rumors of an impending war ripple through the streets, and Matt has no idea who to trust. Leaving seems like the safest choice-until he meets the beautiful Valentina Cresta, feared by many, revered by more-an enigma even to those closest to her. As Matt digs deeper into the city's secrets-and the truth about his own family's past-he discovers the monsters chasing him haven't been left behind. They've only just begun to close in. But as the danger grows, so does his connection to Valentina. And suddenly, escaping Evershade isn't so simple. What if the only way out... is the very reason he stays? This is a work of fiction. Until she gets sent to the wrong house. All Monicroff's belonged in the Herelds House, not the Seekers . . . She's sent to the Seekers and, and it feels like hell's waiting to swallow her up. This comes with bullying, insecurities, fears of rejection, failing classes, and basically doing everything wrong and butchering the Monicroff name. Just when she thinks it can't get worse. . . She's accused of stealing a magic amulet which could unleash a monster on the world and possible start another war between the Naturals and the Magicals. Also her Father isn't speaking to her.
