Veyra looked away, tears gathering at the corners of her eyes. "I don't know how much longer I can take this."

Veyra Ishida was born into power long before she understood what it meant. Daughter of General Ignatius Ishida and Princess Embria of the island clans, she grew up with expectations carved into her bones. Her fire had once burned bright and clean, the blue flame of a prodigy. But a single moment during childhood training shattered something deep inside her. The blue darkened. The heat changed. Her fire grew heavy and grey, almost black, a color no one had ever seen and no one could explain.
People called it a blessing. Others whispered curse. Veyra learned to live with both.
For the sake of politics and alliances, she was engaged at eight years old to Prince Zuko, a boy who carried his own wounds and expectations. They were raised to believe their futures were already written. That duty mattered more than choice. That love was optional. But destiny has a way of testing the people it chooses. As Veyra's power grows and the world begins to fracture, she must decide what her life will be. Will she learn to love the boy she was promised to, the one who sees her even when she tries to hide? Or will she walk away from everything she has ever known to save a world that is falling apart?
Her fire may be dark, but her path is still unwritten.
And the choice she makes will change everything.
