"Yes," I promised her, my breath mingling with hers as I neared closer. "Until however long we have, until the wrinkles on our skin speak more than words."

"Promise me that nothing will ever change what we have between us." She insisted, grabbing on to his collar, pulling him closer to her as her voice tethered close to yearning. "Nothing at all."

"Never, my love."

When we met, I considered it fate. But sometimes we fail to understand that fate is the one who backstabs us more than a living, breathing enemy.
