INTENT

They bring him in bleeding, half-conscious, the smell of alcohol still clinging to his clothes. A drunk driver. Another one. His heart is struggling, his body losing a fight it started on its own. If I step back, if I let the next few minutes pass without acting, he will die.

And if I let him die, I might die tomorrow.
