When Gene absorbs the residue of The Namer's first spoken syllables, she becomes resonant with the pure forms of the Everything. But she soon finds out getting noticed by the Everything wasn't a blessing.

The Everything is an incomparable vastness to a mortal's mind, yet Gene is given the opportunity to get a peek at the forces that make it alive, though inadvertently.

After learning that existence rides on the rivers of wants and drives, she is offered the opportunity to become a part of the current. But there are forces, bound to their own function, who yearn to devour her and her potential.
