It's been five years since...it happened.
I've been adjusting. Finding comfort and happiness with the help of my wild new best friend and our collegiate adventures. I'm finally learning how to open up, and how to trust. But when an enigmatic older man comes to tour the ranch, I realize too late I may have put my newfound ability to trust in unworthy hands. Only now instead of breaking my body, Killian Hess has the means to break my heart.

Her parents cursed her with that name- Darling, because it's been like a self-fulfilled prophesy. The girl is sweet enough to rot teeth, and innocent to boot. The naive cowgirl wants to take a ride on the wild side, and who am I to deny her? Though when my emotions start getting in the way of my livelihood, I know it's time to cut the girl loose. Only I miscalculated. What I thought was a naive, privileged woman out of her depth turns out to be a traumatized woman with invisible wounds I helped reopen.
Now instead of just investing in her family's failing ranch, I resolve to invest in my Darling. I may not deserve her, but she is mine, and I'll be damned before I walk away again.
