Prototype: The King of Monsters.
Alex Mercer is dead.
What continues to live under his name is not a human, but a virus.
The Blacklight, having taken the form, memories, and will of the deceased scientist, persists, masquerading as something it never was.
When traces of Blacklight lead him to Tokyo, he encounters a different kind of monster-Ghouls.
Creatures born as predators, yet desperately clinging to their humanity.
Among them is Ken Kaneki.
An ordinary student forcibly turned into a Ghoul, whose fall and rebirth Mercer observes from the shadows.
Not as a savior.
Not as a judge.
But as a being who has already walked this path.
As Tokyo descends into blood, hunger, and fear, the Blacklight virus slowly begins to spread beyond the city, giving rise to new forms of life-hybrids that neither science nor the CCG can explain.
Humanity faces a question with no right answer:
Who is more terrifying-the one who became a monster against their will,
or the one who is a monster but still believes themselves to be human?
