Only 12 years ago, the Potters, Black, and Lupin were thick as thieves. When Sirius was put in Azkaban and James was murdered, Dumbledore told a distraught and unwell Remus Lupin to hand over his daughter, Rhea Dawn Lupin-Black and lie low. He never came back. Rhea was raised by two foster parents, educated on her Black family heritage, but never told of her lycanthrope father, nor the relations she inevitably shared with Harry Potter. So, when Rhea receives her Hogwarts letter and is sent off as First Year, it was only natural that she'd be drawn to the young wizard. After all, blood may run thicker than water, but both will feel the same when your eyes are closed. And Rhea's eyes have never been opened to the full extent of her family.
