Sanzu has survived every system designed to break him. Violence, loyalty, chemical dependence... he understands these structures intimately. When he is taken from Bonten and placed into a containment program designed to dismantle criminal assets, Sanzu believes this will be no different. Another test of endurance. Another cage he can outlast. But his handler does not seek confessions, obedience, or fear. She offers structure instead. Rules framed as efficiency, restraint framed as protection, control framed as care. Deprivation is methodical. Relief is ritualized. Slowly, imperceptibly, Sanzu's body begins to respond faster than his mind can object. When Sanzu is released back into Bonten, he believes he has won his freedom, until he discovers that autonomy no longer feels complete without her guiding hand.
