When Sunset Shimmer returns to Equestria after days of unanswered letters, she expects confusion, not silence. Twilight Sparkle's castle stands empty, its halls frozen in time, its crystal walls stained with the remnants of something unspeakable. What Sunset discovers beyond its doors shatters any hope of a simple explanation and marks the beginning of a nightmare she cannot escape.

Ponyville has fallen. The streets are littered with bodies bearing mutilated cutie marks and smeared with a black, corrupted blood that refuses to dry. Death is no longer final, and the dead do not rest. As Sunset wanders the ruins, frightened and unprepared, she narrowly survives her first encounter with the infected thanks to the brutal intervention of a hardened survivor: the Great and Powerful Trixie.

With the truth still hidden and danger closing in, Sunset attempts to flee back to the human world. Instead, fate traps her alongside Trixie and the human versions of her closest friends, now transformed into ponies, as the portal seals behind them.

Friendship is no longer a shield. Magic is no cure. And in an Equestria consumed by rot, survival may demand becoming something monstrous just to stay alive.
