Bear is seventeen and one of the original Gladers. A dedicated Bagger, he takes his job seriously, treating supplies and routine as matters of survival. He never remembered his real name, so everyone calls him Bear-after the small bear sculpture he keeps for himself. For every new Greenie, he carves an animal of their own. Quiet and a little unsettling, Bear is often described as "different" when newcomers ask about him. No one knows why he is the way he is-but he's been surviving since the beginning.
