"Your name... Elskan?" Elijah stepped closer, the air thickening around them, the distance between them shrinking.
Her pulse raced at the sound of the nickname. Faces inches apart, noses almost touching, and she could smell the faint scent of him clean, sharp, intoxicating. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, but she wasn't scared. Not exactly.
She blinked, trying to steady herself.
"Now why should I tell you, huh?" she asked, hands snapping onto her hips, forcing herself to appear confident.
Elijah's lips curved into a faint, amused twitch. He reached out slowly, just enough to lift her chin with the tips of his fingers. Warmth radiated from his touch.
Elenora's breath hitched.
"Watch your tongue, Elskan," he murmured, eyes flickering down to her lips before snapping back to her ocean-blue eyes.
"Eyes... up here, man," she said, narrowing her eyes, trying to regain control.
