Doore

Doore is a contemporary queer novella set in the quiet town of Thalassery, Kerala. It follows Anjali, a successful photographer who abruptly leaves behind her life in Mumbai to escape a deeply abusive relationship that has left her emotionally fractured and isolated. Seeking refuge in a house tied to her childhood, Anjali arrives in Kerala hoping for a temporary escape but instead finds herself confronted by unfamiliar stillness and Ashwathy, the reserved and introspective daughter of the household. Through emotional confrontation and gradual trust, the two begin to dismantle the walls they have built around themselves. Their relationship becomes a space of healing, where both are forced to confront not only their pasts but also their understanding of love; whether it is something to fear, escape, or finally accept. At its core, Doore is a story about distance; emotional, physical, and psychological; and the courage it takes, to bridge it.
