A recent widower, Obadiah Cain tries to move on with his life and raise his son Isaac the best that he can. But when Isaac receives a terminal diagnosis, Obadiah will do anything not to lose another person that he loves. Despite his reservations, he turns to the only one he knows who can help: his mother, a dark witch and leader of a mysterious cult that worships a demon known as Cassius, aka The Empty. Obadiah makes a deal with Cassius, his son's life for an eternity of servitude. But when Cassius' plans become clear, and the bodies start piling up, a department of supernatural detectives launches an investigation.
