Being homosexual was hard. Especially in the 1980s. And to a great extent for Michael Wheeler and William Byers.

It had been years since Will had gotten possessed by Vecna, but his trauma lingered. He often went to Mike to seek comfort, and they eventually caught feelings for each other. However, it was strictly forbidden for two males to be in love with each other. "It's not socially acceptable," they'd say. "What will people think?" they'd say. But that didn't stop the two. It never did.
