Atala and the Mortal

I am Hecate-goddess of witchcraft, of crossroads, of the Maid, the Mother, and the Crone.

But in the mortal world, they call me Atala.

I live by the sea in a white clay house, tending to the ailments of those who come to me. I am healer, secret-keeper... and observer of hearts.

Then he appeared-a mortal man with eyes like the shallow sea, fearless and reckless, yet carrying the shadows of a thousand wounds. I followed him into a world I thought I had left behind, and I felt something I had not felt in centuries: desire.

Love, however, is never simple.
When war calls him away, and fear drives him to betray me, the life I carry-and the power I wield-will test the boundaries between goddess and mortal, mercy and vengeance, love and loss.

Some fires are born of passion.
Some are born of rage.

And some cannot be survived.
