Harry Potter is an Auror at the Ministry when a single mistake changes everything. The Ministry is humiliated, and Harry's reputation collapses overnight.

Dismissal looms.

A Senior Auror who has worked with Harry for years intervenes, refusing to let the Ministry discard him. Instead, he negotiates a punishment.

Harry is assigned as the mandatory field observer and partner of Draco Malfoy, currently under Ministry rehabilitation. They believe Harry is the only one capable of handling Draco.

From that moment on, Harry loses his autonomy. He's forced to follow strict rules and can't go on any missions alone.

The assignment is a nightmare.
Harry is forced to work beside his childhood enemy while protecting him at all costs. Draco is anything but easy to protect because of his old connections.

As they work together, Harry begins to notice Draco's sharp intelligence and his unnerving calm under pressure-qualities that repeatedly save their lives in the field, things Harry himself has never been capable of.

More importantly, Harry learns how to listen for the first time.

Draco, in turn, slowly starts to realize the psychological trauma Harry carries and begins-quietly, carefully-to make space for him to breathe.
