Elias is a man who plays by the rules. As a dealer at the windowless Neon Reef Casino, he's used to people chasing ghosts of luck. But he never expected to become one. When a woman with eyes like a shallow reef walks into his breakroom, the air doesn't just change-it drowns. Suddenly, the "Fog" that has shrouded Elias's life for decades begins to thin. He is haunted by visions of a life he never lived: a crown of black coral, a kingdom of white marble, and the agonizing, white-hot memory of a spear through his heart. He isn't just a dealer; he is a reincarnated King, and the woman he's just met is the Mermaid Princess he died to save. But in this life, the truth is a death sentence. As reality begins to glitch-upward-falling rain, seawater sweat, and a shimmering glass scale found at his locker-a phantom pain in Elias's chest begins to ache like a fresh wound. The Princess is desperate to keep him in the dark, knowing that the moment he remembers his crown, the "Deep King's" trackers will find him. In a world of neon lights and cheap luck, Elias must choose: stay safe in the mundane fog of the human world, or embrace an ancient power that already killed him once. The tide is rising, the shadows are moving through the casino vents, and the water is calling its King home.

Valeria didn't rush. She never did. Inez was pinned beneath her, wrist locked overhead, the hold precise and impersonal. Not pain. Control. Inez scoffed anyway. "That's it?" she sneered. "I've had tutors scarier than you." Valeria said nothing. The silence pressed in. "You don't scare me," Inez added, louder. Brattier. "You just-" "Enough." One word. Flat. Final. Valeria lifted Inez's chin with two fingers, detached as a correction. "Look at me," she said coolly. "If you're going to embarrass yourself, do it properly." Inez laughed, brittle. "You think this makes you powerful?" "I don't think," Valeria replied. "I decide." Her gaze never wavered. "You provoke because it's the last control you have." "I don't belong to you," Inez snapped. Valeria leaned in, voice razor-thin. "You are my wife. You belong to consequences." She released her grip. "Say it." "No." Valeria waited. The quiet broke Inez, she hated being ignored. "...I'll behave, I'll be a good girl" Inez muttered. "Specify." Inez swallowed hard. "...I'll be your good girl" Valeria stepped back, already distant. "Good," she said. "Remember why." #1 older women-13th February (FAST PACE BOOK)
