When The Last Dance Wasn't The End

Every school has spots where memories take root. For Evangeline Suarez, it's the window of Room 207, where the afternoon sun hits her desk and casts shadows across the courtyard below. Her best friends, Mika and Lia, are packing their bags nearby, talking about halo-halo after class. Evangeline Suarez's eyes are fixed on the senior high building, on the door to Room 301 where Raphael Montefalco is, and she is thinking about Raphael Montefalco.

"Evie, you are staring again," Mika says, nudging her elbow. Mika tells Evie that the person Evie is waiting for is not going to come up to where they are just because Evie is looking at the place where he might appear.

Evangeline takes her hand away from the glass. Now she can see Raphael clearly. He is walking out with his friend Kyle, and they are laughing together. Raphael pushes his glasses up his nose, then he looks up at her window. He looks at her. Their eyes meet from afar. Raphael gives her a smile, and the smile goes all the way to his eyes.

She knows then,this story is far from over.
