"He gasped for breath. A pain sprouted inside his chest, the distant thumping waking him up. Where was he?

He looked around, seeing nothing but darkness, a seemingly empty void.

Uneasiness passed through him.

He looked down at his hands, squinting to see more clearly. His hands felt sticky, coated with a substance. Only then did he seem to comprehend the smell of iron; he looked around. His gaze finally settled back onto his hands. He brought one hand up in front of him.
