In the XVII century, a thin veil separates common mortals from a world of monsters. While most live in blissful ignorance, a chosen few-Sorcerers, Fighters, Knights, and Paladins-fight the shadows behind closed doors. Arrayed against them are ravaged beasts, power-hungry Warlocks, and Soulmasters who resurrect the dead. Yet, none are more feared than the Bloodborn: vampires with ruby eyes and lethal fangs, divided between high-born clans and those sired for cruel amusement.<br />
Will Byers, a Sorcerer born with innate magic, and Mike Wheeler, a Paladin sworn to divine justice, have spent their lives conquering evil in secrecy. Their bond is as unbreakable as their blades, until a moment of levity turns into a curse. During a journey, the duo visits a fortune teller for sport. She reads a dark path in the stars, a prophecy they mock as they walk away, laughing at the "nonsense" of destiny.<br />
But fate is not easily mocked. Disaster strikes with a swift, cold hand, dragging them into the very darkness they were warned of. The undeniable destiny foretold by the stars unfolds, shattering their world and changing the course of their lives forever.
