Glory and gore

Everybody wants glory-the sense of accomplishment,
the reassurance that they are not a failure.
But the real question is not whether we want it,
but what we are willing to do to obtain it.
We say we want glory.
We say we want to be loved,
to be feared,
to matter.
Yet beneath those words lies a harder truth.
Would you betray the people you love?
Would you destroy everything you've built?
Would you kill?
No matter how we answer,
the truth remains the same.
Deep down, we want to be heard.
We want to be loved.
We want proof that we did not fail.
And in that desire,
we are capable of far more
than we care to admit.
