Hopeless romantic turned hopeless-in-general Emery Carson is struggling through a life of secret abuse at the hands of her father. She lets out her pain on the piano and draws happiness from her best friend Charlie-the boy she's been in love with since she was seven. As her life spirals further downward, she finds herself relying on the delightfully different people she surrounds herself with more and more, and Charlie has always been the center of her world.
