Love Hurts

Teaching Civil Studies with an emphasis on structure, the constitution, and black-and-white order, Ethan is a man of rules. Teaching English literature, Sarah is a woman of subtlety who is passionate about metaphors, gray areas, and emotional expression. They were the "it couple" of the high school ten years ago, and they were inseparable until a brutal split tore them apart.

They are now coworkers in the same hallways where they originally fell in love, thanks to fate and the labor market. The narrative follows them through the unremarkable faculty room geometry, the unpleasant Monday morning assembly, and the subdued tension of rainy afternoons.
