Skin Deep

A young orphan boy, growing up in a dismal village, finds out he has the ability to do magic. But his ability is limited and his magic innocuous. But he is discovered and sent to wizard's school, where he is taught to the best of his abilities, which still aren't considered worthwhile. Despite this, he starts on a career as a magical handyman with good financial results. On his journey he is confronted by a girl, one who is contorted by a birth defect of horrendous proportions. In an exercise of power he had only just attempted, he managed to not only cure her, but to give her an appearance a man would die for. It was from that point on that fate kept them together, and for him (and her) to go on to do bigger and bolder things.
