Of two worlds

In this world there are things far beyond our comprehension, things that not even the magic folk of the Fae can start to understand. The fabric of reality is a delicate thing, like the thinnest sheet of silk. And if it happens to be ripped there is no time stitches that can fix the hole.

And to beings beyond mortal comprehension, humans and fae are as insignificant as the ants and worms beneath our feet. Or that's how it should be. There of course are always oddballs of every bunch, a burnt cookie in the batch, one apple that rots faster than the rest of them.

Taking an interest in the mortal world is dangerous. Dangerous for everybody. Humans are complicated beings. Simple minds yes, with such tragically short lifespans, but their emotions are so very complicated one could not even begin to fathom the tangled Christmas light mess that they are unless one has a human heart. A human heart is a beautiful thing. Just as tragic and disgusting and vile as it is pure and full of Hope.
Duality.

Sacrificing one for something else. A contract is only a contract if both parties get something out of it. But one has to have a soul to make a contract. And to have a soul, someone has to be mortal.
