Callix Jay Alexander - 16, gay, in 10th grade, been in the foster care system for the last 6 years since his Dad killed his Mom in a Suicide/Murder situation, so both of his parents are dead. His younger brother, Mason, is in the system with him, and they've been bounced around to different homes, and have been in 6 in 6 years, and hopefully they find their forever home sooner rather than later. Closed off, quiet, and shy, and doesn't feel that he has the right to be loved in a family, despite wanting one, and that there's no point in getting close to the foster families. If nothing else, he wants his brother to get adopted, even if he never does. Moves in with the Miller-Davis family who have 3 adoptive children already.
Thaddeus (Thad) William Brown - 16, gay, in 10th grade, lives at home with his parents, Dawn and Stephan, and his younger sister, Cassidy. Meets Callix when he starts at the school, and they're in classes together. Friends with Callix and Mason's foster brother, Adian Miller-Davis .
