The Fable of The Monkey Destruction Switch

One day a nobleman hired the freelance investigators (Chaotix) to investigate the archives of the Station Square Incident. Not to ponder the origins of Chaos: Water God of Destruction, nor was it to uncover the mystery of the E-100 robots and the crash site of the two Egg Carriers. It was instead to gather all known knowledge of Knuckles the Echidna, guardian of the Master Emerald. Specifically his encounters with the mysterious device known as The Monkey Destruction Switch.

This is a retelling of the story and additional insights regarding the mysterious device. Where did it come from? What was it's purpose? Who created it? Who was it made for? All of these questions and more are about to be answered.
