The Summer I Met You

An AU of Better Than Revenge where Valeriya is raised by two parents with opposing forms of love. Her father's harsh, militaristic devotion teaches her that love comes with pressure, expectations and distaste for failure. Then when summer she goes to Cousins with her mother whose befriended Susannah Fisher through charity events and there she meets Conrad and she falls for him but then panics when she realizes he's falling too. So she pulls away before anything can begin between the two, only to feel hurt and furious when he turns to Nicole Richardson. So she tries to make him feel the same jealousy, by flirting recklessly with other guys in front of him, which sparks tension and fights between the two that neither of them are willing to name.
