Claire enters the Black Serpents as Rachel a role she can discard when the job is done.

The undercover operation is supposed to be temporary gain trust, gather proof, disappear. But life inside the biker gang follows different rules, and the longer she stays, the more her world outside the Serpents begins to lose its weight. Her badge becomes an idea. Her old life, an inconvenience.

At the center of it all is Asher.

The Black Serpents' problem solver. He simply removes obstacles. People who cross the gang don't come back, and Asher makes sure no one asks where they went. His calm is more frightening than the violence itself.

The closer Claire gets to him, the harder it becomes to remember why she ever thought she could leave.
