Turquoisia is an eleven-year-old girl, once a prisoner in a brothel. She is bought by Viserys Targaryen to be given as a wedding gift to his sister, Daenerys Targaryen.
But Daenerys, moved by the child's distress and innocence, refuses to treat her as a mere present. She decides to care for her as her own daughter. After the death of Khal Drogo and her son, Daenerys, heartbroken with grief, officially adopts Turquoisia. The young girl then becomes the most loyal person to the Dragon Queen, ready to do anything to protect her adoptive mother and her people.
However, during a painful event, Turquoisia discovers that she possesses an extraordinary gift: shapeshifting. Able to change her appearance, she gradually learns to control this power and sets out to discover her true origins, which may well be linked to an ancient legend.
Meanwhile, Tharion, a thirteen-year-old peasant boy, dreams of becoming a knight. Thanks to his courage and determination, he becomes Ser Sebastian's squire and grows up at the court of King Joffrey Baratheon, where he endures his cruelty. This hatred he develops for rulers will profoundly shape his character.
Although Turquoisia and Tharion live on different continents, fate eventually brings them together. Determined to become a knight, Tharion joins Daenerys's army and strives to become one of its finest soldiers. But his distrust and anger toward the young rulers create tension between him and the Queen's adopted daughter.
As time passes, they discover each other's secrets and wounds. Torn between duty and burgeoning feelings, Turquoisia finds herself conflicted. Will she remain loyal to her mission and her mother, or will she follow her heart?
The choice she makes will change their future forever.
