The third installment to the Wonderboy book series, Book 3 takes place a year after J'onn wakes beneath Nathaniel's Smallville farm, and it's all about fragile peace getting tested. Nathaniel is raising two-year-old Clark-who's already frighteningly smart and clearly "different" in ways only Jor-El can fully explain-while J'onn tries to learn how to live again after centuries of Cadmus torture. The farm becomes a sanctuary: warm, quiet, and fiercely protected... even as Smallville gossip swirls around Nathaniel and J'onn's closeness and the two men slowly build a bond that feels like family.

But something old and monstrous is moving through the dark. A threat tied to J'onn's past begins closing in, and Nathaniel senses the shift before he can name it. As fear, loyalty, and duty collide, Nathaniel is forced to confront what it really means to be a protector-of a child, of a traumatized survivor, and of a world that has no idea what's coming. The story builds toward a high-stakes clash that changes everything, and ends with a bittersweet sense of purpose: some callings keep you rooted, and some pull you into the stars.
