William Thomas is an American man deployed during World War 1 and was hit by an explosion shattering both his legs, meaning he had to train them back again with the help of a reconstruction aide before going back to his home, a place he doesn't want to go back to.

Clara Beausoleil is a french woman who volunteers to be an aide during the war in 1916. She encounters an American man, William who she helps to retrain his legs. Coincidentally, he happens to be single, free, and still unable to fully function alone. She is a girl who wants to leave France and move to the U.S.A with her little sister to follow her dreams and make it to safety to follow her dreams and be free.
