Known only by a number, she is assigned to a frontline unit with a single, unspoken expectation: when things go wrong, she will be the one left behind.

But the soldiers she's sent to protect refuse to treat her like something disposable. Around campfires and in the quiet between battles, she begins to learn strange, fragile things-laughter, trust, the weight of a promise to come back.
