My last thought was of Leaf Verrat.

Amana was a Jew in would war 2 and I know your already about to skip over this because you could care less about it but it's really a touching short story. She went through a lot with a older brother, Benjamin, and younger sister, Ethana, and her two parents. She's on the train to the concentration camps and she thinks of her life before this and how everything came down to this. She fell in love, lost people she loved and found love with a Nazi guard before this. And her last thought was a certain teenage boy named Leaf Verrat...
