"We are merely stealing from a society in which has given nothing to us." ********* Mary has never had any desire to get married, in fact she despises almost everything about marriage. In 1864 marriages among the upper class were still more of a business deal than about love and it is Mary's greatest fear that she will marry a gentleman who will take away her voice, as has happened to many women in her time. Nearly a year after her coming of age ball she becomes engaged. They got along well and his wealth was more than enough to make her mother happy, but soon she realizes she was very wrong about his character. Her mother doesn't listen to her, saying that she is just being ungrateful. With no other option left she flees the Collins Estate with her ladies maid disguised as a servant. In the safety of the forest Mary finally begins to feel what it is like to be free, only to bump into a group of bandits where the leader, Emmett Grey, decides to take them in. Emmett is very weary of trusting anyone but Mary finds herself growing closer and closer to him. These bandits steal from the rich to get the things necessary for them to live and one day they travel back to her home. Will Mary's past be revealed?

Skylar pledged her life to protect her homeland, but she didn't expect that she would have to resort to marrying the king's brother and using her wits instead of a sword. ***** Skylar is not a typical noble lady. Captain to her own company, she feels more at home with a sword in hand than in the ballroom. Her whole life gets turned upside down when she is forced to marry Lord General Gawyn Gryphonheart for the alliance. The vicious political machinations will be the least of her problems because a far darker threat is looming in the east. Skylar, with her fighting experience, might be the only one who sees it coming. If only her husband trusted her enough to heed her advice. Can she fulfil her role as a graceful and obedient wife at the royal court and convince the noble families to unite against the monsters believed to be merely a legend?
