Ivenna has conflicting memories of the time her mother abandoned her. She was warned not to use her magic, warned not to summon a wind storm, but grief was a powerful thing to suppress.

But the mystery of Sagatus is too great to ignore. Ivenna searches for him for years, trying to discover who he might be. When circumstances lead her straight into the King's palace, it's convenient for Ivenna because that's where the last of search leads and she has a suspicion that Sagatus is much closer to the crown than she ever could have imagined.
