Now You See

There are places the mind should never wander, dark rooms it builds for itself when anger festers too long. I don't know if what I'm about to tell you is a memory, or dream, or something caught in between - but I remember the smell of damp concrete, the flicker of a single bulb, and the way silence begged to be broken.

I remember their faces.
I remember their screams.
And I remember the moment she finally saw me.
