We were together for 6 years. 6 solid years
Broke together. Dreaming together. Building his company from my kitchen table at 2 a.m. I gave him everything my savings, my time, my trust. He promised me forever. Said I was the one who'd be there when he made it.
Then one afternoon he came over, looked me dead in the eyes, and said, "I can't do this anymore."
No big fight. No explanation that made sense. Just... done.

I found out later why.
The "cousin" he introduced me to years ago? The one who was always around, smiling, bringing food, acting sweet?
She wasn't his cousin.
She was the woman he'd been seeing behind my back.
And his sister my best friend since before I even met him was in on it. She helped plan the introduction. Helped keep the secret. Stood there smiling while they built a future that was supposed to be mine.

A few months after he left me crying on my porch, I saw the wedding photos online.
Him in a suit. Her in white.
His family cheering like nothing was wrong.
They'd been planning it while I was still begging him to talk to me.
I broke. Completely. Nearly ended it all.
But I didn't disappear like they expected.
I left the city. Rebuilt. Turned the same skills I used to help him into my own success.

Now I'm not the girl they used and threw away.
I'm stronger. Independent. Doing better than he ever did.
When he lost everything company crashing, money gone, begging to "fix us" he didn't realize the ghost he left behind had come back.
Not to haunt.
To take back what was always mine.
This is what happens when the people closest to you decide your pain doesn't matter.
This is karma showing up late... but right on time.

Marianna was never meant to be a pawn. When Kade enters her life, he does so with intention. A lie. Disowned by his powerful rival family, he uses Marianna to secure what he's been denied: access, protection, and her family's connections. Their marriage is supposed to be a strategy. A means to an end. Except Kade doesn't expect to fall in love with her. What begins as careful manipulation turns into something dangerously real. Stolen glances linger too long. Arguments end in confessions neither of them are ready to make. Every quiet moment chips away at the wall Kade built between who he is and who he's pretending to be. And threaded through it all is a bond that refuses to behave: distant, muted, wrong. Like it's waiting. Watching. Holding its breath. When Marianna finally learns who Kade really is, and why he chose her, the fallout is brutal. The truth detonates everything: her love, her trust, the future she thought she was choosing. She walks away shattered, furious, done. Whatever fragile thing existed between them is ashes in her hands. And that's when it happens. When Marianna has nothing left to give him. When she's chosen herself. When she's finally, truly through- The bond snaps into place. Sudden. Violent. Unmistakable. The universe doesn't reward patience. It doesn't care about timing or forgiveness. It simply claims what it's owed, binding her to the man who betrayed her at the exact moment she no longer wants him. Betrayal was always part of the plan. Falling in love was not. And the bond? The bond has the worst sense of humor of all.

Penelope Woods - Age: 20 - Occupation: Electrician - Interests: Rugby It was little things at first, things I didn't even consider to be an issue. Questions here and there about what I was wearing, or how I wore my hair. We were members of the same rugby club. Best friends turned lovers, living in domesticated bliss, until cracks in our foundation presented themselves. Invites Jack didn't extend and when questioned, he just shrugged and said it was a work thing, that he thought I wouldn't be interested. He'd look sheepish, apologize and we'd move on. He'd whisper words in his sleep that I couldn't quite decipher but when he called out someone else's name during the throes of passion, I could no longer live in denial. So, I let Jack go. I've been raised to love and accept people as they are. I don't know how to be anyone but me. But sometimes even shallow cuts by the ones you love the most cause the deepest wounds and I need to learn to love myself again. Jack Monroe - Age: 24 - Occupation: Consultant for my family's Business - Interests: Rugby, Peneolpe and appeasing family :( I have known I've loved Penny from the very moment she launched herself into my arms after winning the grand final 3 years ago. Penelope is so kind, patient and fun. She is also loud, boisterous and very much the tomboy. When we're in the privacy of our shared home or our rugby world, those things don't matter. However, in my other world, with my well to do family and my role as a consultant for my family's business, unfortunately appearances do matter. Or, so I thought. Will Jack realise he truly loves Penny, warts and all, before it's too late? What does Penny think of the possibility of being with Jack again? "For me to even consider accepting love from Jack again, he'll have to be prepared to take me as I am."

This is a story about what happens when love meets grief and neither of them wins. Before, there was laughter in the dark. Stolen touches. The thrill of wanting something we were never meant to have. He felt like rebellion and safety all at once - like if I chose him, the world might burn, but he would stand in the flames with me. I didn't understand that some fires don't keep you warm. They consume. There was a night - the kind people whisper about later. The kind that divides your life into before and after. When the dust settled, something precious was gone... and the boy I loved was left carrying the weight of it. He never said it out loud, but I saw it in his eyes. The guilt. The unraveling. The quiet way he began pulling away from me long before I realized I was losing him. Grief changes people. It turns love into something desperate. It turns promises into things that tremble. It makes you cling tighter... even when you should run. I told myself he was hurting. I told myself pain makes people do things they don't mean. I didn't realize some damage can't be undone. By the time the truth surfaced, it was already too late. Too ugly. Too sharp. The kind of truth that doesn't just break your heart - it rearranges it into something unrecognizable. He says he'll spend the rest of his life making it right. But love born in secrecy. Love baptized in tragedy. Love tested by something unforgivable- It doesn't come out untouched. And if you're waiting for me to tell you we survive this... You should know something first. Some nights don't end when the sun comes up. Some nights follow you forever. And ours was the kind that leaves a body behind.
