In 1955, sixteen year old Elizabeth Ouma moves with her immigrant parents to the seemingly perfect town of Silver Hollow, hoping for a fresh start. Instead, Lizzy becomes the target of relentless bullying and racism at her elite school. Too afraid to burden her parents, she suffers in silence, clinging to small comforts and the hope of belonging.
