For over four centuries, the citizens of Barrian have lived under the safety of a glass dome, shielded from a world covered in chemical spills and haunted by the predators born from its decay.

​The only thing keeping the walls from failing is the Undertaking - a dangerous expedition held every few years where five citizens are Voted to step into the toxic air and reinforce the protective shields.

​Lyra Cresswell knows the cost of the badlands outside Barrian all too well. She's already lost her sister to them, and she's spent years praying that the man she loves wont be next. But, when the names are called, it's Lyra who is handed the death sentence.

Forced beyond the glass, Lyra discovers that the monsters aren't the only thing evolving in the ruins. As the shields flicker and the truth about Barrian's foundation begins to crack, she realizes the greatest danger isn't what's lurking in the badlands - it may be what's waiting in the only home she's ever known.
