"Stop the car."
Arun turned toward her. "Why? What happened? Are you not feeling well? Feeling like vomiting?"
The concern in his voice only irritated her more.
"Just STOP THE CAR."
The cab slowed and pulled over.
Dakshina got down. Arun followed.
"Do you have money?" she asked.
"I have some," he replied.
"Do you see that shop?"
Arun looked in the direction she pointed.
A wine shop.
"Yeah..." he said, hesitantly.
"Go and buy me a drink."
Arun blinked. "You drink?"
"You don't?"
"No... I don't."
"Just wow."
She looked away, folding her arms.
"Listen, I'm not a homely girl. I already told you. We might be married, but not for long."
Arun lowered his gaze.
"I know."
"Just buy me a drink. Please. I need it... after everything that happened today."
He hesitated. "What do you drink?"
"Rum. Or whiskey. Or vodka. Anything. Please."
Arun walked toward the shop.
Dakshina stood alone on the roadside.
And once again, the sadness crept back in.
