When I See You

Kao is twenty-five and already known as a talented professor who teaches stories for a living. He also writes dark, eerie books under the pen name Dark Peach, and readers admire how fearless his imagination can be. To most people, he seems brilliant but distant, like someone who keeps a careful space between himself and the world.

What they do not know is that Kao cannot recognize faces. They blur together or fade into blankness, leaving him to remember people by their voices, the sound of their footsteps, or the way they carry themselves. Keeping his distance has always felt safer. It is easier than explaining why he might not recognize someone standing right in front of him.

Then one day, he accidentally bumps into someone.

For the first time in his life, a face stays clear.

And that simple, impossible thing shakes him more than he wants to admit.
